News: There are now three confirmed magazine-specific DLC costumes for Sengoku Basara 4 Sumeragi

A very quick update today as I want to devote more time to updating my reference guide for the game and responding to all the comments. I added all of the recent data to the reference guide last night and tidied it up a little but the character profiles still need some work!

A tweet from the official Sengoku Basara account has finally confirmed the details of that last mysterious element-changing weapon spotted in an early trailer.

A DLC code for Shibata Katsuie's dark-elemental 'Neckchopper' weapon will be included in the October 2015 issue of V-Jump magazine, which goes on sale on 21st August 2015. It's the first issue of V-Jump to be released after Sengoku Basara 4 Sumeragi, hence the long gap between the game's release date and the availability of the code.

The summary of all of the magazine-specific DLC announced so far is as follows:

NameDescriptionTypeReleasedDetails
「ピン」・「キリ」Shima Sakon's fire-elemental weapon, 'Lows/Highs' Weapon23/07/2015Included with Dengeki PlayStation issue 595
愛らしい妾に似合う猫の手Kyougoku Maria's light-elemental weapon, 'Cat Paws To Suit The Lovely Me' Weapon23/07/2015Included with Weekly Famitsu (dated 6th August 2015 but released 2 weeks earlier)
逆刃鎌 頸刈Shibata Katsuie's dark-elemental weapon, 'Neckchopper' Weapon21/08/2015Included with V-Jump (dated October 2015 but released 2 months earlier)

If you want to buy the magazines, you can buy the physical editions at Amazon Japan and other good bookstores. Here are the links for the correct issues of Weekly Famitsu and Dengeki PlayStation; V-Jump isn't up on the site yet but should be added soon. CD Japan is also able to supply all three magazines.

Weekly Famitsu and Dengeki PlayStation can also both be ordered digitally through Bookwalker if you want to save on delivery costs or live in a country which cannot order from Japanese bookstores. Bookwalker can accept payments from non-Japanese PayPal accounts.

  1. Hi! Thanks for the news again! The weapons are really great. I would like to know if it is possible to have the cover of the issues that contain the weapons. I created an account on Bookwalker but I want to make sure to buy the good ones. I would really love to have them! Thanks for the link, Bookwalker seems to be a nice site.

    1. The covers only seem to get posted on release date for most magazines (since they contain 'spoilers' for the announcements) so I'll add them to a reminder post later today along with direct links :)

  2. Aww, V-Jump. I wish more Japanese magazines embraced digital formats! Since I'll be dusting off my CD-Japan account, I guess I'll finally pick up the Setouchi Chronicle manga as well - it was Chronicle manga I most wanted to read and it's the only one which isn't available digitally (for some reason).

The DLC prices are adding up quickly! To get all of the Sumeragi costumes, unique weapons and music it currently costs ~¥10200. That's ~£55! And if you want to include the SB4 costumes and music as well, it goes up to ~¥13500 or ~£70. I think I'll spread buying the DLC over a couple of months, haha.

    1. I just placed my August order before this news so now I have to think of something else to combine with V-Jump to make the shipping worthwhile. I'm sure there must be something I can buy out there :D

It's certainly getting expensive, especially with the new music packs. I'm kind of tempted by the Ishikawa tracks since I've never played with them as the BGM before...

I'm really sorry that I had to switch on authentication for comments. The blog had started to receive dozens of spam comments each week. I hope that this new setting will help!
