About

Raindrops and Daydreams is a personal blog written by a British anime/game fan with no reservations about writing enormous posts where nobody will ever read them. There is a strong bias towards news and articles which relate to Capcom's fabulous Sengoku Basara series. Over time and with the encouragement of other fans in the comments, this has become more noticeable. Does therapy for Sengoku Basara addiction exist? Why won't the blogger just give in and admit this has actually become a Sengoku Basara website?

The writer is nobody famous and has no great skill at writing. The reviews are generally positive since they're real life purchases and buying things that you won't enjoy is a waste of money. The blogger only attends and reports on interesting-sounding events. On rare occasions some perceived injustice in the fan community flares up and leads to long posts full of self-righteous frustration.

This blogger receives no rewards of any kind for working on this blog; there shouldn't be any ads and none of the shopping links contain referral information. It's just for fun.

All translated material on this blog will contain a prominent link or reference to the original untranslated source within the same post and no harm is meant by its inclusion. Full translations of commercial products are outside the blogger's field of interest.

Feel free to send a nudge on Twitter via @DaydreamsUK if you have anything to say, or leave a comment. Messages in languages other than English are ok too!

(Please note that Twitter follow-back requests will go unacknowledged. People with a lot in common or a fantastically cool profile picture will be followed back without needing to ask.)

In addition, this blogger will delete requests for free copies of commercial stuff; it's terribly rude and a deluge of such requests eventually caused the closure of a previous website. Supporting the creators is important so that they keep making awesome things for their fans to enjoy. Asking questions about anything else is, of course, absolutely fine.

  1. I guess there's not much I can really say, except I see Gintama on your streaming schedule, and I can only nod in, "This person must have great taste" xD Oh, and you're checking out Boku No Imouto. Adding your blog to my reader, most definitely!

    1. Thank you! I hope I don't disappoint with my near-constant wittering about Sengoku Basara lately :)

Your taste seems pretty good too. I'm going to take a look at what you've been writing about!

    1. Thank you for your comment! I'm glad it was helpful. I think quite a few other translators have the main stories covered; I can recommend hyakkaran's summaries here and also the translations over at the Koei Warriors forum. I know that some of the regulars there will translate requested routes too if you can find a video they can use for reference and one poster will subtitle videos too if asked :)

  4. Hey, I just wanna say how helpful this site is for Sengoku Basara. I've followed it since Basara 3 Utage came out and without all this, I don't think I would have enjoyed this series so much. I just want to say thanks for all your help with these awesome games! Can't wait for Yukimura-den!

  5. Thank you for your english guide, it has been very helpful. Have you ever contacted Capcom and asked if you could lead an official translation? I don't think dubbing will be necessary so how costly can it be for Capcom to hire a few translators? the negative reception in the west for Samurai Heroes was partly due to its barebones content and their general hate for anything musou related, this genre has always been niche anyway.

    1. Thanks! Sadly Capcom have very strict quality rules on using their own in-house teams for localisation (and I don't think I'm a good enough writer to do the series justice, even though I'm sure most of us would rather it had some translation rather than none at this point!)

I think the lack of sales success the spin-offs (anime adaptations etc) have apparently experienced hasn't helped. It's so annoying that the series remains mostly Japan-only even now.

I'm really sorry that I had to switch on authentication for comments. The blog had started to receive dozens of spam comments each week. I hope that this new setting will help!
